WHEN STRESS STRIKES... REACH FOR REVITALASH

As April marks Stress Awareness Month and life frequently pushes us to our limits, it's no wonder that stress can take a huge toll on our hair. To delve into the broader impacts of stress, encompassing not only our scalp, but also our lashes and brows, Claire Larsen, Global Master Educator at RevitaLash Cosmetics, guides us through the root causes and suggests solutions to mitigate its effects.

What does stress do to your hair?

During the global pandemic, we especially learnt that hair could fall out in clumps due to stress – something known as telogen effluvium. Unfortunately, women are more likely than men to suffer from this. Not to mention, sometimes we can fall into bad habits and patterns when we are stressed out like consuming too much alcohol or not maintaining a healthy diet – these factors can also affect the health of our scalp and hair.

Why does stress cause your hair to thin/fall out?

According to the Mayo Clinic, what happens is that significant stress can cause many hair follicles to be pushed too quickly into the telogen (resting/shedding) phase, one of the hair growth phases, and then you will notice shedding and fallout. Typically, you will lose about 100 hairs/day during this phase with 5% of hairs in this phase, but that is increased when with stress-induced telogen effluvium. This can affect up to 50% of the hair and it can take place for even 3 months following.

How can RevitaLash and RevitaBrow help?

RevitaLash® Advanced & RevitaBrow® Advanced are ideal to incorporate into any anti-aging regimen as they will help strengthen hair and reduce breakage. As the hairs shift through the various growth phases, this will allow the existing and new hair to remain strong so that it can look lush and beautiful. Ingredients like peptides help to strengthen the hair while lipids and antioxidants help protect the hairs and keep them shiny.

How can the RevitaLash Volumising Hair Collection help if you are experiencing hair thinning?

This collection works in tandem to address the needs of fine, thinning hair for both men and women. It first starts with scalp health. In the instance of a flower, if the soil and roots are not properly attended to, you will not see the beautiful and healthy bloom. Our hair is not all that different, healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp that is balanced, hydrated, and free of build-up or excess sebum. The ingredients in the Thickening Shampoo & Thickening Conditioner not only help to support the health of the hair, but they make it look thicker and help to prevent breakage. Then, you have the star of the show – our Volume Enhancing Foam. This helps to strengthen the hair, intensify natural volume, it adds conditioning shine, and it protects and revitalizes hair. With this three-part regimen, your hair can look thicker and fuller, and it will help reduce breakage which makes hair look thin.
